Terrorist warns President-Elect Obama

Today Al Qaeda's second-in-command urged Muslims to keep up attacks on the "criminal" United States and criticized U.S. president-elect Obama for promising to back Israel.
The U.S. Homeland Security Department said the message by Ayman al-Zawahri, the first al Qaeda comment on Obama's election, held no indications of an increased threat to the U.S. homeland.

Zawahri also warned Obama of failure should he pursue the policies of President George W. Bush, according to an audio tape posted on Islamist websites on Wednesday.

Southern California Wildfires

So the lower half of California is ablaze. What happens after the fires (three as of this post) go out - if they ever do? Where do renters and home owners go for help? FEMA - SBA - State - Local Counties? What's the process for them and for cities/counties to begin the rebuild?

Here we talk about first responders during fire

http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wildfires/2008-11-16-southern-california-wildfires_N.htm

but what was the Public Works Department, Public Health and Hospitals, Building Inspectors, city and county employees and lets not forget the large and small animals? Isn't that are part of our obligation to the citizens that we serve?

What are your thoughts and how does the Incident Command System and NIMS apply?

Well this is my first blog...not bad for a 30+ year member of the Law Enforcement community. Strange how the roads I've taken brought me to this time and place. The Y2K -AKA Millennium started it all. Emergency response planning/ICS/Unified Command/Joint Helicopter Operations between PD & FD. Then 911 happens, San Francisco sells the helicopters off to raise funds-penny-wise and pound foolish. They will pay for that when the quake hits.

So why a blog about NIMS/ICS for Public Safety? Simple. Emergency response and planning is just not a PD/FD/PH thing......It's all of us playing in the same sandbox. We have to train, plan, work and recover together if we are going to earn our keep.

This blog is for everyone, paid professionals to good citizen volunteers. Public employees - private business (big - medium and small) Profit makers - Not for Profits and Non-profits.

This is your blog. I hope to hear your thoughts of how we will rise together BEFORE we need to.
